So you’re telling me there’s a chance (for a Rangers comeback)?

There is no sugar coating this; the Rangers will likely not win the Stanley Cup this year. They find themselves down 3-0 in the series to the Kings, even though the Rangers could very easily be up 2-1 or even 3-0 had some bounces went their way, but such is hockey.

Luckily for the Rangers, 3-0 series deficit comebacks happen more often in hockey than in any other major sport. In fact, these same Kings did so against the Sharks this year (damn you forever San Jose). But “often”, is 2.3% of the time. And often is only five times in the history of the NHL. But hey, 2.3% is marginally better than the 1.6% for all major sports.

The Rangers are close. As in, I expect them to win tonight. They’ve proven that they can hang with the Kings, despite whatever lazy ass narrative the hockey talking heads will conjure up. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if they win the next game as well. But to ask this team to win four games in a row against the Kings? Well that’s the manifestation of a fairy tale ending. But I’m telling you there’s a chance. As my old man would say “keep the faith”.
